Researchers have recently discovered a new antibiotic using the computer's artificial intelligence, named Halcyon. As the human brain takes in different types of inputs, processes them and learns neural networks are trained differently in the computer. For example, teaching children the principles of English grammar means that their brain is being trained to use such things and to do so. In the same way, if the principle of chemical reactions of atoms and molecules is taught to the computer, then on the basis of these principles, it is possible to know the probability of such reactions occurring in the atoms and molecules, and so on. Similarly, in the present case, researchers first trained the computer system that molecules used as medicines should have properties that can eliminate bacteria (E. coli). After the system has been trained, it is given a list of different chemical compounds to detect molecules that are antibacterial, which can eliminate bacteria. Of these compounds, the compound found by the computer system is named Halcyon. This compound has previously been researched as a treatment for diabetes. But it has not been as effective in treating diabetes as it has been in killing bacteria.

This antibiotic, named Halcyon, has proven its effectiveness in the laboratory by eliminating bacterial infections of various stomach disorders and TB-like diseases. When used on mice to check for its effects on a living animal, bacterial infection was eliminated in just 24 hours.
In addition, the use of antibiotic drugs causes a major problem, called antibiotic resistance. This means that if a single antibiotic is used repeatedly on a disease-causing bacteria, they become bactericidal after some time, meaning they have resistance and that antibiotic is no longer effective in treating the disease. For But after 30 days of use on E. coli bacteria, there is no resistance notice against Halcyon in E. coli. Further research on this will be done in the hope that Halcyon will be used to treat human diseases.
